Book week Parade

Today we dressed up as book characters.  There were lots of spidermen, one black Spiderman, IronMan, a pirate, Jessie from Toy Story, a policman, some princesses, a fairy, a soldier, Ben 10, a gingerbread man.  We think we looked fabulous!

Soccer game Room 21 vs Room 30

Today Room 21 played soccer against Room 30.  It was a great game and everybody tried really hard.  Room 21 won the game and we will play again soon against another class.
This is the sport that Team 2 is playing to find a champion class.  it is part of our celebration of the 2012 Olympics.

Dragon Masks 23.3.12

Dragon Masks
Today we made dragon masks.  We have been reading the book, "Dragons, Dragons, Dragons" which is about dragons who are trying to make friends but the people keep running away because they are scared.
We think our dragon masks are cool, fancy and scary.  We like to SCARE people with our masks!

The Fridge Rover

The Fridge Rover can climb and move on the whiteboard.  It has a magnet inside it that helps it stick to things that are made of metal like a fridge or the whiteboard.  It is made of white plastic and the wheels are black rubber.  It looks like a little moon car or a space car or a moon rover.    We wonder if it would climb up a wall, a window, a rubbish bin, a basket ball hoop or a table.   We tried and found out that it didn't climb up a wall or the table or the window.  It didn't work because they weren't made of metal.  It could stick to the basketball hoop but it didn't climb because it wasn't flat.  But.... we found out that it does climb up the pole outside Whio awhina.

Fridge Rover

On Monday Mrs Neish showed us a crazy little car that she found in a shop.  It is called a 'Fridge Rover' and it climbs up, down and across the whiteboard!
We brainstormed some words to help us think about how it does this.

Planting our seeds

Today Room 21 planted some seeds.  First we got the pots.  Then we put the soil in.  We made a hole with our finger in the dirt.  Then we put the seed in.  We covered the seed with dirt to keep it warm.  Mrs Neish put some water in the pot.  The soil keeps the seed warm and helps it to grow.
Ryenn thinks the seed might grow into a sunflower.
Raelin thinks the seed might grow into an apple tree.
Isabella thinks the seed might grow into a purple flower.
Vaanideep thinks the seed might grow into a beautiful flower.
Benji thinks the seed might grow into an orange tree.

Here are some photos of what we did.

Today we made toast.  We put it in the toaster.  We put in 4 pieces at once because it was a big toaster.  Then we pushed the lever down and the toast went down and cooked.  When it was ready the toast popped up.  Some of us put butter on and some of us didn't.  We put honey, or marmite or strawberry jam on top.  The toast was ready and it tasted crunchy, nice, good, delicious, and yummy!

End of Week 2

It is now the end of our second week at school.  We have worked very hard and done lots of learning.  There are some very smart children in Room 21 who ask tricky questions and think of exciting solutions.  Next week we are hoping to start our reading programme and spelling learning.  So look out for a reading book and spelling notebook in our book bags.
